Coming March 5: License Plate Recognition at Plaza Garage

A license plate recognition (LPR) system is being installed at the Plaza Garage.

Anyone who has a parking access card will see the garage gates automatically rise when pulling up to the ticket dispenser and exit card reader. This is the result of the new LPR system that identifies your vehicle based on the license plate number on file. (It will recognize up to two license plates on your account.)

When this occurs, you do not need to swipe your access card — just proceed through the gate. If the gate does not automatically rise, swipe your access card on the reader as usual. (This could happen if your license plate information is missing from the system or is incorrect.) Parking services will gradually be examining user records and updating them as necessary to reduce these occurrences.

To update your parking information, click here.  Please note it may take up to 48 hours to take effect.

All cardholders are required to continue to have their access card with them when entering and exiting facilities, for redirection or use at other UMB facilities after 4 p.m., and on weekends.

All parking rules and regulations remain the same.
