Christine Callahan, PhD, LCSW-C, Named Chair of Financial Social Work Initiative

Christine Callahan, PhD, LCSW-C, research associate professor with the University of Maryland School of Social Work’s Financial Social Work Initiative (FSWI), has been named chair of FSWI. Callahan has been with the FSWI for 10 years, and came from nearly 20 years of clinical experience at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda working with individuals and families living with life-threatening and life-limiting illness and the impact on their financial well-being.

Callahan and Frey and all of the FSWI Steering Committee members are excited about FSWI’s continued growth and commitment to addressing economic injustice and financial distress in vulnerable, marginalized populations. FSWI also trains financial social workers and other helping professionals in a variety of ways in this work and offers events and creative programming to bring attention to these critical issues.
