Iris Cardenas and colleagues have a new paper published in Violence Against Women that synthesizes the evidence on the link between patriarchy and intimate partner violence (IPV) as a key element for asylum claims. This article applies social science evidence to a legal framework to show that survivors of IPV seeking asylum meet many of the necessary criteria for asylum.
