Heather Lashley and Erika Ventura Castellon

PhD students accepted into 2023 Graduate Nursing Student Academy Digital Innovators Program.

Heather Lashley, BSN, RN, PhD student, and Erika Ventura Castellon, BSN, RN, PhD student, have been selected to participate in the 2023 American Association of Colleges of Nursing Graduate Nursing Student Academy (GNSA) Digital Innovators Program.

The goal of the program is to innovate in a personal and team-based journey by collaborating and creating content for the teaching and learning space. The pedagogies of the program challenge students with individual and team-based methods that highlight connectedness, critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world problem solving.

The program, aimed at graduate students who are interested in becoming future nursing faculty, consists of virtual sessions twice a month. Sessions feature activities from members of the Apple Education Team and Apple Distinguished Educators from around the globe. Participants work in teams of two. In addition, each team will have an opportunity to ask questions through informal sessions with alumni of the program. Teams will have regular activities to debrief, reflect, create, curate, and innovate to prepare a digital showcase project.

As the ability to use digital mobile technology and pedagogy is more imperative than ever, the GNSA Digital Innovators Program offers participants modern approaches and creative methods to educating the future nursing workforce. The current cohort began in January and will conclude at the GNSA conference in August in Washington, D.C.
