Dr. Evans and BSW Student Published in Child Welfare

Assistant Professor Kerri Evans and UMSSW BSW student Dominique Culley have a new paper published in Child Welfare that explores the key role that foster parents play in the adjustment process for unaccompanied immigrant children in foster care. Using data from staff focus groups collected in partnership with Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, the authors found that culturally responsive service delivery includes: supportive and lasting relationships with foster parents, a welcoming home environment, cultural orientation, cultivating independence, bilingual/bicultural staff, and safety protocols.
