Assistant professor will offer two podium presentations at 2023 International Family Nursing Conference.

Kim Mooney-Doyle, PhD, RN, CPNP-AC, assistant professor, will give two podium presentations at the 16th International Family Nursing Conference, June 21 - 23, in Dublin, Ireland.

She will present "Family Impact of Serious Pediatric Illness: A Scoping Review," done in conjunction with multiple colleagues at renowned children's health organizations nationwide. Families are important providers and recipients of pediatric palliative care (PPC) services. Understanding the scope and nature of evidence at the intersection of family science and PPC research is necessary to develop family-focused interventions that enhance child and family health.

She will also present "Ethics in Family Education, Practice, Research, and Policy: A Survey of IFNA Members," also conducted with multiple colleagues nationwide and internationally (Brazil and Denmark). Ethics is central to practice, education, research, policy, and engagement with families because the issues families contend with in caring for their members and communities have become increasingly complex. The IFNA Family Ethics Subcommittee documented the professional ethics work, ethics-related training, and areas of ethics-related interest to: a) promote this work within and beyond IFNA, b) align subcommittee activities with IFNA members’ interests, and c) create a dialogue around ethical considerations when working with families.

In addition, Erika Ventura Castellon, BSN, RN, a PhD student, will also attend the conference.
