Megan Doede, PhD ’19, MS ’13, RN, (left) assistant professor, and Vanessa P. Fahie, PhD ’94, BSN ’76, (right) assistant professor, have been named Spring 2024 Dean’s Scholarship Scholars (DSS). This prestigious recognition acknowledges their outstanding achievements and potential in research and scholarship.

The DSS program is designed to provide focused time and mentorship for individuals who desire to increase their concentration on the research/scholarship component of the mission by enhancing their writing and publication skills with the ultimate goal of publishing in peer-reviewed journals or writing chapters in textbooks.

The DSS Program provides one semester/six months of protected time and editorial resources to awardees. Typical activities might include submitting abstracts and manuscripts of quality improvement initiatives or state-of-the-art clinical topics or research findings and participating in writing accountability groups. Appointment as a scholar is a competitive process for early- to mid-career (assistant or associate professor) faculty members.
