Michael Schlossman

Michael Schlossman publishes Op-Ed in The Philadelphia Inquirer arguing that Pennsylvania should follow the lessons of the 1970s and make major reforms to its juvenile justice system.

This piece drew on Schlossman's research--based on oral history interviews and archival work--into activism's role in accelerating decarceration reform in the Pennsylvania juvenile justice system of the 1970s. The first part of this study was published last year in Social Service Review. This work is part of a larger effort to explain continuity and change in American juvenile justice, and the impact of the decarceration movement on the treatment of system-involved young people.
