Interdisciplinary team of faculty members awarded sustaining funds to continue COVID-19 work.


Veronica "Ronnie" Quattrini, DNP, MS '99, BSN'85, FNP-BC, assistant professor and senior director of the Doctor of Nursing Practice program, University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON); Eun-Shim Nahm, PhD ’03, RN, FAAN, FGSA, professor and associate dean for the PhD program, UMSON; Ameera Chakravarthy, PhD '22, RN, ACNP-BC, FNP-BC, assistant professor and director of the Doctor of Nursing Practice Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner/Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist specialty, UMSON; Kyle Hatten, MD, associate professor, University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM); Kelly Moyer, MD, assistant professor, UMSOM; and Bianca Cornelius, CRNP, nurse practitioner, University of Maryland Health Systems, have been awarded a $10,000 sustaining funds grant for two years from the University of Maryland, Baltimore's Center for Interprofessional Education for the project "Statewide Virtual Oncologic Care Coordination During COVID-19 Pandemic.”

Head and neck cancer care often requires multiple treatment modalities, including surgery at a tertiary care center with adjuvant treatment, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, performed in community cancer programs at various locations. The initiative will continue to complement in-person care with a virtual meeting format to integrate physically distant teams and generate a consensus recommendation, treatment plan, and surveillance regimen.
