Barth Published on Increasing the Safety of Adoptions

Professor Richard Barth has recently published a commentary in IMPRINT in concert with the publication of Roxana Asgarian's We Were Once A Family. Drawing on the story of the adoption of 6 children in TX and the failure of CWS to intervene as the family spun across several states, Barth has provided several specific intervention ideas for making adoptions safer. Building on work with Mary Hodorowicz regarding foster care and adoption filicides and evaluations of the SAFE home study (used in MD) this paper suggests important policy and practice interventions that are available to intervene in failing and dangerous adoptions.
