Shasha Satchell, a certified community health worker and lactation specialist at B’more for Healthy Babies, Center for Restorative Change (BHB@ CRC), joined Dr. Wendy Lane of the UM School of Medicine at the Health Resources and Services Administration's Enhancing Maternal Health Initiatives: Maryland Convening which was held at Morgan State University.
They participated in a roundtable discussion and summarized the B’more for Healthy Babies in Upton/Druid Heights’ programmatic efforts, strategy, partnerships and results. Ms. Satchell highlighted the continuum of perinatal services offered by the BHB@CRC including the lactation services and resources that are provided by the community-based lactation team.
Ms. Adriene Coles, one of the program’s Community Advocates and lactation parent leaders, also shared her experience supporting lactating families in her community. HRSA shared short videos of Ms. Coles and Ms. Satchell on their website to improve maternal health outcomes in Maryland.
