Clinical instructors presented posters at Eastern Nursing Research Society conference.

Caitlin Donis, MS ’13, AG-ACNP, ACCNS-AG, (right) and Jacquelyn "Jackie" Ryer, MSN, AG-ACNP, CCRN, (left) both clinical instructors, presented posters on their doctoral work at the Eastern Nursing Research Society's 36th Annual Scientific Sessions in Boston, April 4 - 5.

For Donis' poster, "Factors Influencing Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) Proficiency Development," she adapted, psychometrically tested, and pilot tested a novel instrument measuring self-perceived proficiency in tasks or skills expected of the ACNP role. The instrument was used to determine what pre- and post-employment factors influence proficiency development in ACNPs that were six to 18 months into their first employment. The number of clinical rotation hours had a statistically significant effect on self-perceived proficiency scores.

For Ryer's poster, "Peer Support: A Pilot Program for Acute Care Nurse Practitioner/Clinical Nurse Specialist Students," she implemented and evaluated a Peer Support Pilot Program (peer mentorship) for AG-ACNP/CNS DNP students. The program was well utilized by AG-ACNP/CNS students, and 80% would recommend the program to incoming students. Fifty percent of the students thought it contributed to their success in Diagnosis and Management I. Students subsequently went into Diagnosis and Management II and had a 100% pass rate for the course.
