Assistant professor, colleagues, have manuscript accepted for publication in the Journal of Professional Nursing.


Dawn Mueller-Burke PhD, CRNP, NNP-BC, assistant professor and chair, New Essentials Curricular Revisions Taskforce, has had a manuscript, “The AACN essentials: An intentional framework for successful implementation,” accepted for publication in the Journal of Professional Nursing.

The article offers insights and guidance for nursing programs embracing competency-based education and aligning with AACN Essentials, and draws heavily on a model for curricular revision pioneered by UMSON.

Mueller-Burke is joined on the manuscript by contributing authors Susan L. Bindon, DNP, RN, NPD-BC, CNE, CNE-cl, FAAN, associate professor, associate dean for faculty development, director of the Institute for Educators, and program director, Teaching in Nursing and Health Professions Certificate; Bimbola Akintade, PhD ’11, MS ’05, MBA, MHA, BSN ’03, ACNP-BC, NEA-BC, FAANP, former UMSON faculty member and current dean of the Eastern Carolina University College of Nursing; and Shannon K. Idzik, DNP ’10, MS ’03, CRNP, FAANP, FAAN, professor and associate dean for the DNP Program.
