Kanwal Mahmood Hameed

Dissertation research in acute myeloid leukemia published in “Frontiers in Oncology.”

We are excited to spotlight the exceptional achievements of Kanwal Mahmood Hameed, PhD, a recent graduate from the Molecular Medicine program at UMB, whose groundbreaking dissertation research has recently been published in Frontiers in Oncology, Cancer Metabolism.

Hameed's study represents a significant step forward in the fight against cancer, particularly in the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). By investigating the targeting of serine biosynthesis in conjunction with crisantaspase, Hameed et al., have uncovered a promising therapeutic strategy with profound implications for AML patients.

The research findings unveil the synergistic anti-proliferative effects achieved through the combination of crisantaspase and inhibitors of serine biosynthesis. This discovery not only deepens our understanding of AML but also paves the way for more effective and targeted treatments, offering hope to individuals battling this devastating disease.

Hameed's dedication to advancing oncological research exemplifies the spirit of innovation and excellence at our institution. We commend Hameed for her outstanding contributions to the field of cancer metabolism and extend our heartfelt congratulations on this remarkable achievement.
