Dr. Michael Schlossman Promoted to Research Assistant Professor

Dr. Michael Schlossman was appointed to a Research Assistant Professor position within the Institute for Innovation and Implementation (The Institute). For the past two years, he has served as a Lead Research Analyst. His research uses diverse data sources to investigate the everyday operation of community-based alternatives to incarceration and evidence-based programming in the juvenile justice and child welfare systems. His recently completed work used oral history interviews and archival sources to examine the historical impact of social activism on the treatment of juvenile justice-involved youth. As a Research Assistant Professor, he is looking forward to contributing to greater scholarly and public understanding of how child-serving systems work in practice and can be improved. His work will continue to support, and hopefully help expand, The Institute’s partnerships with public agencies such as the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services aimed at promoting data-informed decision making, accountability, and fairness.
