Nancy Kusmaul and colleagues conducted a scoping review to identify key concepts, summarize existing findings, and identify research gaps linking nursing home characteristics and resident quality of care outcomes. They found that facility characteristics like staffing levels, ownership status, and size were associated with various resident outcomes such as quality of life, hospitalization rates, and mortality.
