Congratulations to Stacey Wilson, LMSW, for being recognized with an award for Outstanding Achievement in Academic Community Engagement by a Faculty Member by the Interprofessional Program on Academic Community Engagement (IPACE), which is housed within the Department of Family and Community Health at the University of Maryland School of Nursing. Wilson is a clinical and faculty field instructor for UMB’s School of Social Work’s Center for Restorative Justice and works in collaboration with the Office of Community Engagement to provide support for families via Family Connections-Baltimore initiative.

On Thursday, March 28, IPACE held its second annual symposium, "Best Practices in Community Engagement: A Symposium on Community-Based Scholarship, Practice, Education, and Service." The symposium also highlighted various organizations and individuals and their efforts in community engagement.

Wilson co-facilitates the Caregiver Advisory Group which combines the experiences of former participants of the program of the FCB program and The Center for Restorative Justice to provide support and resources for one another. Stacey demonstrates the framework utilized by the FCB which is the SHARP (Structural oppression, Historical context, Analysis of role, Reciprocity and Mutuality, Power) framework. They work in culmination with the Baltimore Racial Justice Action to train children and families serving systems in adopting an anti-racist and anti-oppressive lens and practices to reduce and repair the impact of systemic racism on Black and other non-Black families. This programming has been implemented in collaboration with the Anne Arundel Department of Social Services, Baltimore City Department of Social Services and UMB in collaboration with the Urban Child Welfare Fellowship and other community partners.
