Three UMSOM staff members attend “Advancing Women in Leadership” workshop.

Tia Stone, Tammy Thomas, and Maria Zhang of the University of Maryland School of Medicine’s Veterinary Resources program attended “Advancing Women in Leadership” hosted by Towson University’s Dr. Nancy Grasmick Leadership Institute on Jan. 9-10, 2024. This two-day interactive workshop encouraged participants to discover strategies to enhance their leadership capacity, gain confidence for impacting their organization in powerful ways, and create a work-life rhythm that aligns with their values.

Stone, program coordinator; Thomas, administrative coordinator; and Zhang, accounting manager, were invited to attend the workshop by their direct supervisor after they each expressed a desire for professional growth during a goal-setting exercise held for the Veterinary Resources business office staff in December 2023.

“It is so important to build a diverse talent pipeline and develop rising leaders at UMB,” said Carey Martin, business operations administrator.  “These ladies have the drive to succeed and advance in their careers. I am proud of them and cannot wait to see how they prosper and grow from here.”
