Bridgitte Gourley

Associate professor and director of DNP Family Nurse Practitioner specialty raised more than $800 for the Maryland Polar Bear Plunge.

Bridgitte Gourley, DNP ’08, FNP-BC, FACU, associate professor; director of the Doctor of Nursing Practice Family Nurse Practitioner specialty; and co-director of the University of Maryland, Baltimore Center for Interprofessional Education, participated in the Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge on Feb. 1 at Sandy Point State Park. The plunge supports year-round sports and leadership programs for the athletes and Unified teammates of Special Olympics Maryland.

Gourley braved the 34-degree water of the Chesapeake Bay and made it all the way out to the police officers to give them a high five. She raised $843, contributing to the $4.5 million raised across all Maryland plunge events this year.

Gourley is counting on UMSON colleagues to join her next year to create an UMSON team.
