Chantelle Brown, MS, assistant director of academic success and student organizations liaison in UMSON's Office of Academic and Career Success, received the Outstanding Achievement in Academic Community Engagement by a Staff Member Award at the third annual IPACE Symposium. Brown has been an invaluable partner in the Vivien T. Thomas Medical Arts Academy’s school community, offering outstanding programming to their students and support that has significantly impacted their personal growth and development, especially their career development.

For the past year, Brown has constructed a mentorship model for the Vivien T. Thomas nursing pathway students and has provided skill-building and community service opportunities and materials to succeed, such as uniforms, books, and more. She sits on the School, Family, and Community Council board, through which she offers important insights to inform CTE programming and to advance the school. Brown has consistently shown up with passion and dedication, fostering an environment where students can thrive.

The impact of Brown's contributions has been both profound and measurable. Vivien T. Thomas Medical Arts Academy students, staff, and the school community will be better because of her contributions to their programming. The feedback from staff and administration has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing deep gratitude for the opportunity to engage with Brown and learn from her expertise. Brown has not only enriched the lives of the school's students but has also become a cornerstone of the school community.
