April 24, 2025MSW Alum Felicia Moore Leads Housing Advocacy with the Center for Restorative Change.
As a community school coordinator at Renaissance Academy, Felicia Moore has witnessed firsthand the profound impact that housing instability has on students’ academic success and well-being. Drawing from her own experiences growing up in Baltimore and her training as a social worker, Felicia understands that students cannot thrive in the classroom when their basic needs, like safe and stable housing, go unmet.
Recognizing the urgent need for systemic solutions, Felicia partnered with the Center for Restorative Change at UMSSW and other community leaders to organize parents and advocate for policy change. Through one-on-one meetings and community organizing, she and her colleagues identified housing insecurity as a critical barrier to student success. Together with Social Advocates for Social Change—a coalition of MSW students—and the Center for Restorative Change, Felicia helped bridge the gap between housing and education sectors.
