Assistant professor presents at the 2025 ACHNE Annual Institute.


Michelle Spencer, DNP '19, MS '06, BSN '84, RN, assistant professor and director of the Master of Science in Nursing Community/Public Health specialty, recently delivered two presentations, one at the Association of Community Health Nurse Educators (ACHNE) Annual Institute in Columbia, South Carolina, and a poster at the Maryland Action Coalition (MDAC) Virtual Summit.  

On June 7, Spencer presented “Discovery and Application of Health Equity Through Community Engagement, Art, and Inclusive Conversations”  at the ACHNE conference and on June 9, she presented “Art as a Lens for Health Equity: A Nursing Education Initiative” at the MDAC virtual summit. These presentations were supported by the Dean’s Teaching Scholarship, developed and implemented in collaboration with Yvette Conyers, DNP, RN, FNP-C, CTN-B, CFCN, CFCS, CNE, FADLN, CWCN-AP, assistant professor and associate dean for strategic engagement and impact.

Both presentations highlight innovative pedagogical approaches to advancing health equity in nursing.
