Assistant professor presents at multiple national American Association of Colleges of Nursing conferences.


Dawn Mueller-Burke, PhD, CRNP, NNP-BC, assistant professor, received three invitations for podium presentations or to speak at the American Association of Colleges of Nursing's Transform 2025 conference, held Dec. 4 - 5 in Anaheim, California.

The presentations and remarks included:

  • AACN Essentials Workshop Coach: "Advancing Curricular Transformation Through Coaching and Competency-Based Assessment Strategies"
  • Podium Presentation – NSP-II Grant: "Igniting Faculty Capacity for Competency-Based Education: A Statewide Faculty Development Initiative." Mueller-Burke presented with fellow University of Maryland School of Nursing faculty and staff members Marleen Thornton, PhD, RN, associate professor; Susan Bindon, DNP, RN, NPD-BC, CNE, CNE-cl, FAAN, associate professor, associate dean for faculty development, and director of the Institute for Educators; and Brittany Corbin, BSN ’14, RN, PCCN, CNE-cl, senior professional development and education support specialist
  • Invited speaker: "Competency-Based Education Unpacked: Linking Performance Indicators to Assessment"

Mueller-Burke also received two invitations to present at the AACN Doctoral Education Conference, Jan. 15 in Bonita Springs, Florida:

  • She was an invited panelist for "Advancing Nursing Science: Competency-Based Preparation of Both DNP and PhD Nurses." The panel also included Shannon K. Idzik, DNP ’10, MS ’03, CRNP, ANP-BC, FAANP, FAAN, professor and associate dean for the Doctor of Nursing Practice program, among others.
  • Also, as an invited speaker, she spoke on "Unpacking Competency-Based Education at the Doctoral Level: Leveraging Progression Indicators for Assessment."
