UMSON

UMSON receives 2019-20 Maryland Clinical Simulation Resource Consortium (MCSRC) Equipment & Materials Award.

UMSON was selected to receive a 2019-20 Maryland Clinical Simulation Resource Consortium (MCSRC) Equipment & Materials Award administered by the Maryland Higher Education Commission and hosted by Montgomery College. With this award, UMSON will receive an additional electronic medication dispensing machine worth approximately $18,000.

This piece of equipment is similar to the electronic medication dispensing machines used in clinical settings (e.g. Omni-cell, Pyxis). However, in many clinical sites students are restricted from using this equipment for a variety of reasons. Having this equipment in the UMSON simulation lab offers students the opportunity to practice using electronic medical equipment as part of the care they provide during simulated experiences. Having this experience prepares the students for integrating technology in their care once they graduate and practice safe medication administration when caring for real patients.
