Professor awarded grant to support her research project “Function Focused Care for Individuals with Dementia in Assisted Living.”
Barbara Resnick, PhD ’96, RN, CRNP, FAANP, FAAN, professor, Sonya Ziporkin Gershowitz Chair in Gerontology, and co-director of the UMSON’s Biology and Behavior Across the Lifespan Organized Research Center, has been awarded a Stulman Foundation grant for $150,000 to support her research project “Function Focused Care for Individuals with Dementia in Assisted Living.” Her project will support the development of new resources for assisted living residents with dementia who exhibit behavioral symptoms and functional decline, and will also disseminate and implement a revised function-focused care approach using the resources in assisted living settings across Maryland.
