Carol O’Neil and Matt Rietschel

Faculty author book ‘Developing Online Courses in Nursing Education’

Carol O’Neil, PhD, RN, CNE, associate professor; Matt Rietschel, MS, assistant professor and assistant dean for information and learning technology; and Cheryl Fisher, EdD, RN-BC, senior nurse consultant for extramural collaborations at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center Nursing Department, authored the book Developing Online Courses in Nursing Education.

As student enrollment in higher education changes and enrollment in online courses increases, this book presents the foundations of teaching and learning in online environments needed to meet these needs. The workforce is changing rapidly, and knowledge and skills need updating to meet employment demands. To meet these changes, learning needs to be lifelong, and the learning environments need to be flexible and creative.
