Lowther Appointed to AAP Behavioral/Mental Health and Adolescent Health Subcommittee


Clinical and Quality Initiatives Director of the School of Social Work’s Institute for Innovation and Implementation, Jennifer Lowther, LCSW-C, has been appointed to the American Academy of Pediatrics Behavioral/Mental Health and Adolescent Health Subcommittees for its grant from the Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration’s Maternal and Child Health Bureau. The $6 million grant, funded through the 2020 CARES Act (Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security) is entitled Supporting Providers and Families to Access Telehealth and Distant Care Services for Pediatric Care. The overall goal of the grant is to improve access to healthcare for vulnerable pediatric populations in response to COVID-19.

Serving on the Behavioral/Mental Health and Adolescent Health Subcommittees, Ms. Lowther will assess and review needs assessment findings and recommendations to determine topic areas to address and educational modalities to offer related to tele-health and tele-consultation services for behavioral/mental health needs for children and adolescents.
