Assistant professor receives $3.5 million funding award from the National Institute on Aging.


Assistant professor John Cagle, PhD, and co-PI Dr. Kathleen Unroe, of the Indiana University School of Medicine have been awarded a $3.5 million grant from the National Institute on Aging.

Their study will test an intervention (UPLIFT-AD) that combines efforts to increase palliative care knowledge and practice in nursing homes along with external palliative care consultation. The goal of UPLIFT-AD is to improve care and enhance the quality of life of nursing home residents with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders.

This important project has the potential to improve the care of nearly 50 percemt of nursing home residents who have a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease or other form of dementia.
