Assistant professor presents poster at the Association of Public Health Nurses annual conference.

Katie McElroy, PhD, RN, assistant professor, presented a poster at the annual conference of the Association of Public Health Nurses in Atlanta in April.

The poster, “Improving Prenatal Risk Assessment Through Provider Outreach: First Steps and Lessons Learned,” discussed the development and implementation of an educational intervention for obstetric providers. The goal of the intervention was to improve the accuracy and timely submission of the Maryland Prenatal Risk Assessment, which links at-risk pregnant women to critically needed services.

The project was conducted in partnership with the Healthy Babies Collaborative, a multidisciplinary effort to improve birth outcomes in Baltimore County.
