Rosemarie D. Satyshur, PhD, RN, assistant professor, presented virtually during the American Public Health annual meeting and expo, Oct. 22 - 27.
Her session focused on the influence of social determinants of health in the development of strategies to promote an optimal quality of life for all birthing people, their families, and their communities. Developing a maternal health provider workforce that is available, accessible, culturally relevant, and with practices rooted in principles of equity and racial justice will further reduce pregnancy associated deaths in Maryland through improving access, increasing care coordination, and reinforcing screening and support services.
