Tara Sheehan and Mazda Mansouri

Dental students win first and third place at American Dental Society of Anesthesiology meeting.


At the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology meeting on Feb. 16 in Las Vegas, Tara Sheehan (Class of 2019) won first place in the student essay competition. With her submission “Cannabis and Dentistry,” Sheehan discussed the current use of medical marijuana, its effect on chronic pain, and applications in dentistry. 

Mazda Mansouri (Class of 2020) won third place in the poster competition with his submission “The Increased Need for Sedation in Dental Education.” Mansouri surveyed University of Maryland School of Dentistry students on their current sedation literacy, clinical experiences, and opinions of their sedation curriculum.
