UMSON's Climate Change Workgroup Earns Core Value Awards Honorable Mention

The workgroup was recognized in the Accountability category of UMB's first annual Presidential Core Value Awards.

UMSON's Climate Change Workgroup was awarded Honorable Mention in the Accountability category of UMB's first annual Presidential Core Value Awards.

The University-wide awards are designed to recognize students, faculty, and staff who embody the seven values at the heart of UMB’s mission: accountability, civility, collaboration, diversity, excellence, knowledge, and leadership.

The workgroup's nomination stated, "The School of Nursing is committed to addressing the issues of climate change and sustainability through a health promotion lens. We believe this demonstrates accountability, not only to our mission as a School to 'shape the profession of nursing and the health care environment,' but also accountability to the University’s mission 'to improve the human condition and serve the public good for Maryland and society at-large.' Working to address climate change evidences a fundamental accountability to the larger community, our nation, the world, and most importantly to future generations. Work of this nature demonstrates that we have chosen to hold ourselves 'accountable for our collective and our individual decisions, actions, results, and responsibilities' with respect to a complex and daunting issue of our time."

Congratulations to the workgroup!
