The U.S. Public Health Services (USPHS), America's health care first responders, is looking to recruit bright and driven health professionals. Nursing students are invited to participate in a paid externship called the Senior Commissioned Officer Student Training Externship Program (SRCOSTEP) while they attend school. Students in their final year of school receive a full salary while attending classes and are guaranteed a healthcare position in a federal agency upon graduation.
