Congratulations to our graduating Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) students who took home Poster Day awards at the UMSON CNL Poster Day on Dec. 5, 2022. During Poster Day, graduating CNL students showcased their evidence-based project work and answered questions about their work.

  • For scholarship in pediatric nursing: Erica Smith for her poster comparing the effect of cue-based feeding to scheduled feeding on transition time from gavage to oral feeding in preterm infants
  • For scholarship in women's health nursing: Katherine Hempstone for her poster on multi-component interventions vs. health care worker training alone to reduce disrespect and abuse of maternity patients in sub-Saharan Africa
  • For scholarship in mental health nursing: Elizabeth Burnett for her poster on EMDR therapy vs. trauma-focused psychotherapy to decrease PTSD in post-partum women following a traumatic labor
  • For scholarship in nursing workforce issues: Alexandra Lynch for her poster on using an alarm management program to reduce alarm fatigue in ICU nurses
  • For scholarship in outpatient nursing and screening interventions: Ariel Pry for his poster on telephone-based coaching using motivational interviewing to reduce hemoglobin A1C levels in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus
  • For scholarship in acute care nursing: Gazuella Jean for her poster on provider vs. nurse led triage in the ED to reduce patient overcrowding and reduce length of stay
  • For scholarship in surgical nursing: Allison Pollack for her poster on nurse-led surgical count initiatives to reduce retained surgical items in surgical patients
