cooking class

Cooking for personal and planetary health is a collaborative effort between URecFit and Wellness, the Office of Sustainability, several UMB faculty, and the Nova Institute for Health. The class is open to all UMB students and offers an exciting interdisciplinary opportunity for students to enjoy a comprehensive, evidence-based nutrition instruction and demo led by culinary experts. Students will have the opportunity to cook a meal using simple ingredients and will learn how culinary choices can impact planetary health. The students will then eat and discuss what they have cooked together.

The live class will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Nova Institute for Health. The first 30 minutes will be didactic instruction, followed by one hour of cooking and 30 minutes to eat and discuss concepts from the 30-minute didactic session. The Nova Institute for Health is located in Harbor East at 1407 Fleet St. Students are encouraged to carpool or ride the free Charm City Circulator — Orange Route.
