“As a career, I look forward to having a dental practice that both provides top-quality patient care and aids in building people’s confidence,” Freddy Flanagan, DDS ’22, wrote as part of his application for the Dean’s Scholarship for Leadership and Excellence at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry (UMSOD).

“I love the thought of restoring smiles, not just because of the cosmetic effects, but also because it helps increase patients’ longevity. I believe that it is better to give than receive, and that the best gift in life to give to somebody is a second chance.”

Giving people a second chance was inspired by Flanagan’s own experience. Read more about how this School of Dentistry graduate is committed to giving back by helping recovering addicts with their oral health needs, in this month’s issue of SPOTLIGHT newsletter.
