The Graduate School Committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion cultivates a culture and space of safe, equitable, and radical belonging for students, faculty, and staff. 

We promote social, economic, cultural, and environmental justice initiatives to illuminate and dismantle the impact of power, privilege, and oppression affecting multiple identities. 

We also advocate for anti-racism, anti-oppression, and anti-discrimination policies, procedures, and action throughout the Graduate School. 

We are seeking a work-study student to help in key strategic areas:

  • Improve accountability and transparency within the Graduate School
  • Attract and retain individuals from historically underrepresented populations into leadership, faculty, and staff positions
  • Promote mutually beneficial exchange of knowledge and resources and develop a shared and inclusive understanding of diversity and excellence
  • Attract, retain, and graduate increasing numbers of graduate students from historically underrepresented populations and international students
  • Create, cultivate and sustain a welcome, supportive, and inclusive Graduate School culture

Essential Functions

  •  The position is up to 100 percent remote interim summer/fall
  •  Assist with literature reviews, data collection, and preparation of reports and recommendations
  •  Assist with planning, coordinating, and evaluating activities, workshops and events around equity, diversity and inclusion
  •  Assist with increasing engagement of GS faculty, staff and students in equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts
  •  Website updates and maintenance
  •  Assist staff with special projects as needed

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  •  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  •  Willing to learn new skills
  •  Excellent customer service skills
  •  Ability to work in a team and independently
  •  Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Hours

Students could potentially work up to 20 hours per week. Work hours can range between 9 a.m.-8 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Telework-Capable Position

This position is up to 100 percent virtual and telework interim for the summer/fall.
