As a UMB campuswide safety initiative, the two UMB One Card readers in the UMSON Baltimore building first floor lobby (next to the security officer’s desk) have been reinstalled. These card readers allow UMSON and UMB to have a record of everyone who has entered the building should that information be needed in an emergency.

For this campus system to be effective, all staff, faculty, and students are required to swipe their One Card at a reader every time they enter the UMSON building. You do not need to swipe your One Card when exiting the building.

Faculty and Staff
Please also swipe your One Card when accessing the UMSON building from any other entrance (e.g., SMC Campus Center, Penn Street, etc.), even if you are following a colleague who has already swiped to unlock the door. You do not need to swipe again at the security officer’s desk if you have already swiped at another entrance.

Students
Please be sure to swipe your UMB One Card using one of the new card readers at the security officer’s desk when you enter the building through the main Lombard Street entrance. Please also swipe your One Card when accessing the UMSON Building from the SMC Campus Center connector door, which you are able to access 7:30 a.m. - 9 p.m., even if you are following someone else who has already swiped and unlocked the door. You do not need to swipe again at the guard’s desk if you have already swiped at the SMC Campus Center connector door.
