Volunteers Needed for Study to Understand the Relationship Between Cognitive Impairments and Speech/Language/Dialogue Patterns
November 08, 2022Purpose: This study aims to understand the relationship between cognitive impairments and their impact on speech/language/dialogue.
Are you eligible? We are looking for adults 55 years and older who are native speakers of English and who either have mild Alzheimer’s dementia or are healthy and have no unusual memory or thinking issues.
Participants will be asked to participate in five study sessions between August 2022 and April 2023 in which they will be asked to chat with researchers and perform tasks related to memory, language, attention, abstraction, and orientation. Each study session will last for about 45 minutes.
Location A quiet room in your home within 30 miles from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) or in Montgomery County, Md.; a user study lab at UMBC; or a private room at a public place (e.g., a reserved room in a library).
Participants will receive (1) $30 for time and effort plus $10 for parking if they drive to UMBC. Participants will be receiving an additional $10 if another driver is needed to go to UMBC (per session); (2) Cognitive impairment screening (per session)
