Unstuck and On Target

The Institute for Innovation and Implementation's Office of Instructional Design & Media was invited by Children's Hospital of Colorado, together with Children's National Hospital, to produce free online teacher training designed to improve executive functioning of elementary school-age children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The training is a part of Unstuck and On Target, executive function (EF) tools and curriculum, which uses proven cognitive-behavioral techniques to improve flexibility, emotion regulation, planning, and organization among third- and fifth-graders. Children's Hospital of Colorado received a grant from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute to develop Unstuck and On Target (UOT).

“The Institute was honored to produce and host the UOT Elementary School Teacher Training,” said Meredith Gunn, PhD, MSW, Institute director of instructional design and media. “Participating teachers overwhelmingly responded positively about the overall impact and importance of this training. In the words of one educator, ‘I deeply appreciate how this program understands and values the importance of the student's input into their plans and developing their coping strategies.'"
