UMB Staff Senate Names Inaugural Equity and Action Officer
October 12, 2022The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) Staff Senate is excited to announce the election of Aaron M. Graham, JD, associate director of career development at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, as its inaugural Equity and Action Officer.
In this critical role, he will respond to concerns related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) for Staff Senate-represented employees; serve as the Staff Senate representative on Universitywide DEI efforts such as the Diversity Advisory Council (DAC); and develop and maintain partnerships with school-based DEI officers, the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, the Chief Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Officer and Vice President, the Intercultural Center, the Office of Accountability and Compliance, and the Chief Accountability Officer.
Graham steps into this role with extensive experience in shared governance and leading Universitywide initiatives focused on supporting marginalized and underrepresented groups. In describing Graham, Staff Senate President Gregory Brightbill, EdD, MBA, MEd, stated, "Aaron has already proven himself to be a leader amongst leaders, and I wholeheartedly believe that he will continue to lead our institution as an advocate and champion for equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice."
