Future of Work

In April 2022, University of Maryland, Baltimore President Bruce E. Jarrell, MD, FACS, established the Future of Work Task Force and charged the group with providing recommendations to support the changing workforce needs and well-being of the UMB workforce. The Future of Work Task Force established three diversely represented committees to develop and submit short- and long-term recommendations related to work flexibility, employee value proposition, and employee well-being.

Feedback was gathered through the Future of Work survey administered in October 2022 and several supervisor and employee listening sessions held over the past few months. The committees also reviewed several supporting research documents, articles, and materials to help inform their recommendations.

The committees are in the process of developing their recommendations.  Final recommendations are expected to be delivered to President Jarrell and senior leaders later this spring. Final recommendations will also be shared with the campus community.

Many thanks to all the individuals who are serving on the Future of Work committees. They have tirelessly volunteered their time to listen to the campus to identify and develop Future of Work recommendations that represent the collective voice of UMB.
