UMSSW Continues Partnership with Prince George’s County on System of Care Work
September 29, 2023The Prince George's County Health Department received two grants from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to further the development of its system of care.
Expansion and Sustainability of the Comprehensive Community Mental Health Services for Children with Serious Emotional Disturbances is a four-year award that will allow Prince George's County to expand the reach of its system of care to children and youth with emotional disturbances and their families, with a particular focus on improving mental health outcomes for children and youth at risk for child welfare and juvenile justice involvement.
The Healthy Transitions grant is a five-year award that will allow the county to continue to develop resources for transition-aged young adults (16-25) who either have, or are at risk for developing, mental health conditions.
These two grants continue the University of Maryland School of Social Work's Institute for Innovation and Implementation partnership with the Prince George's County Health Department with Aaron Betsinger, PhD, MA, research assistant professor, serving as the lead evaluator for both grants.
