At UMB, we believe in recognizing the outstanding contributions of our incredible employees. To enhance our efforts in fostering a culture of appreciation and acknowledgment, we invite you to join the UMB Employee Recognition Committee. We are seeking representatives from various schools and departments across campus to ensure diverse perspectives and a comprehensive understanding of the contributions made throughout UMB. 

The Employee Recognition Committee will play an important role in identifying and honoring individuals who go above and beyond in their roles and in embodying our University values. By joining the committee, you will have the chance to help recognize and appreciate our colleagues' hard work and dedication. 

Responsibilities of the UMB Employee Recognition Committee include: 

  1. Reviewing Nominations: The committee will be responsible for carefully reviewing employee nominations for awards including the 2023 Employee of the Year, Community Service Award, and James T. Hill Scholarship. 

  1. Determining Award Recipients: Committee members will collaboratively assess nominees against the award criteria to ensure fairness, consistency, and alignment with our values in the selection process. 

  1. Contributing to Process Improvement: Actively participate in discussions and initiatives aimed at enhancing the equity and effectiveness of our employee recognition process.

Who Can Join:  

  • All full-time staff members (including faculty who supervise staff members) who are in good standing with the University are eligible to participate.  

  • Employees from various schools, departments, and job functions are encouraged to apply.   

  • Both new and longstanding employees are welcome.  

  • Self-nominations are encouraged.   

  • If you have a colleague who you believe would be a valuable addition to the committee, please encourage them to apply.  

Commitment:   

  • Committee members should be willing to commit to approximately three hours between Feb. 16 and March 4, including a brief informational meeting and the independent review of submissions.    

  • Active participation in nominee evaluations and discussions is expected.
