Middle States Accreditation

The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) has launched its Middle States Commission on Higher Education reaccreditation process, and now is the time for members of the UMB community to get involved in this effort.

Please consider volunteering for one of seven working groups. Each working group will be composed of roughly 10-12 volunteers joined by members of the UMB Middle States Steering and Logistics committees. Each working group is charged with examining whether UMB satisfies the requirements of one of the Seven Standards of Accreditation. Which groups appeal to you?

  • Standard I: Mission and Goals
  • Standard II: Ethics and Integrity
  • Standard III: Design and Delivery of the Student Learning Experience
  • Standard IV: Support of the Student Experience
  • Standard V: Educational Effectiveness Assessment
  • Standard VI: Planning, Resources, and Institutional Improvement
  • Standard VII: Governance, Leadership, and Administration

Please use this link to complete a short volunteer form and to indicate your interest. The response so far to the call for volunteers has been strong, but we want to make sure everyone has the opportunity to participate. The deadline to apply has been extended to May 26, 2023.

Additional opportunities to get involved, including town halls, will be announced in the fall 2023 semester.
