Unidos@UMB is a Universitywide Latinx faculty and staff affinity group. Our goals are to support the promotion and career advancement of Latinx members on campus as well as to facilitate collaborations and interactions by establishing a Latinx network. To reach these objectives, we hold events that celebrate and create awareness of Latinx culture, among other outreach and academic strategies.

Please join us for the Unidos@UMB kickstart flagship event co-sponsored by Unidos and the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.

“Latinx Communities and Representation in Media: Who’s Telling Our Stories — and How?” will feature a panel of media experts who will discuss the lack of coverage in mainstream media of access to health care and socioeconomic mobility for the community and how to bring these issues to the forefront.

A networking reception will follow with opportunities to meet faculty and staff that identify as Latinx or have an interest in the Latinx community. Information about Unidos will also be available.

The event will be held in the SMC Campus Center Elm Ballroom B from 4-6 p.m. May 4.
