Since July 1, 2023, the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) Office of Sustainability has been collecting plastic film and bags for a challenge by Trex. The goal was to reach 500 pounds of materials by Jan. 1, 2024 to be eligible to receive a plastic composite bench by Trex.
To date, UMB has exceeded its goal of 500 pounds!
Thank you to those who have participated or volunteered for assisting with the collections! For those wondering, collection will continue at six drop-off locations until the end of the year.
When dropping off material to be recycled (and to be respectful of our volunteers picking up the materials), please ensure that they are an accepted material and are clean, dry, and free of food residue.
