If you haven't heard, the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) Office of Sustainability is collecting plastic film and bags for a challenge by Trex. The University will receive a Trex bench if it can collect 500 pounds of plastic film and bags between July 1, 2023, and Jan. 1, 2024. There are eight locations on campus acting as drop-off sites, including new sites at the Health Sciences and Human Services Library and Maryland Carey Law.
To date, UMB has collected 270.9 pounds of plastic bags and film!
When dropping off material to be recycled (and to be respectful of our volunteers picking up the materials), please ensure that they are an accepted material and are clean, dry, and free of food residue.
