Virtual Policy Dialogue Hosted by the LGBTQ Health Expert Panel

Purpose Statement: Hosted by the American Academy of Nursing’s LGBTQ Health Expert Panel, this policy dialogue will identify how recent policies are attacking transgender and gender-diverse people’s health, harming patients and communities, and affecting health care providers' ability to safely deliver care. This dialogue will examine the sources of these attacks, the impact on health equity, and nurses' and professional organizations' responsibility to influence policy that will mitigate these harms.

Learning Outcomes: As a result of participating in this policy dialogue, learners will:

  • Identify sources of attacks on transgender and gender-diverse people's health, and gender-affirming health care
  • Explore key policy issues impacting transgender and gender-diverse people's health
  • Define one action that nurses can take to protect transgender and gender-diverse people's health care
  • Discuss the impact of the Academy in advancing transgender and gender-diverse people’s health.

Registration is open to Academy Fellows at no additional cost, students at $25, and non-members at $80. Each dialogue will be 90 minutes, and 1.5 nursing continuing professional development contact hours will be available for purchase at $25 in the registration portal.
