turkey on a platter

Project Feast is a student organization affiliated with the University of Maryland School of Medicine that has a tradition of hosting a free meal on Thanksgiving Day. This year, our event falls on Nov. 23 and will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Booker T. Washington Middle School, serving the underserved population of Baltimore. For our 34th annual Project Feast event, we are grateful to have sponsorship from the Medical Alumni Association and the University Student Government Association of UMB.

In the past, in addition to providing a hearty meal, we have worked to connect our guests with various community resources and provide free health screenings. We have also distributed donated clothing, blankets, toiletries, and pantry staples to help meet their immediate needs. Last year, our dedicated team of 175 volunteers came together to serve approximately 400 guests, making it a truly special and impactful occasion.

Here’s how we could use your help:

Volunteer: Help spread the word about this event, bake turkeys before Thanksgiving, or volunteer to serve the day of the event! Please sign up to volunteer using this link: https://forms.gle/dqYq7fVAWh3vRk8k9

Host a health screening: We are looking for student groups interested in partnering with Project Feast to offer health screenings and/or health resources during the event, such as blood pressure screening, medication guidance, etc. If your student group is interested, please email us (projectfeastumb@gmail.com).

Donate: Nonperishable food items, toiletries, gently used clothing, and toys. Be on the lookout for an email once donation boxes are set up around campus.

Sponsor: Direct donations for the cost of a turkey, meal, coat, or any amount are always welcome and appreciated at: www.medschool.umaryland.edu/ProjectFeast
